FAQs

  1. What are you up to?

    We are building an engineering AGI. We founded P-1 AI with the conviction that the greatest impact of artificial intelligence will be on the built world--helping mankind conquer nature and bend it to our will. Our first product is Archie, an AI engineer capable of quantitative and spatial reasoning over physical product domains that performs at the level of an entry-level design engineer. We aim to put an Archie on every engineering team at every industrial company on earth.

    Archie performs engineering tasks just like a human engineer: distilling key design drivers from requirements, coming up with product concepts and variants, doing first-order design trades, and selecting and utilizing the right engineering tools for detailed design. The keys to making Archie work are:

    1. Large-scale datasets of physics-based, supply chain-informed synthetic product designs that efficiently sample the interesting parts of the design space;
    2. AI models trained on these data sets that are capable of spatial and multi-physics reasoning;
    3. Deep empathy for and experience with our customers, who are the industrial OEMs employing most of the world’s engineers.

    Our founding team brings together the top minds in all three.

    We just closed a $23 million seed round led by Radical Ventures that includes a number of other AI and industrial luminaries. We invite you to join our team of the world’s best engineers and AI researchers, building AI’s most impactful use case.

  2. Who are you?

    Paul Eremenko, Aleksa Gordić, Adam Nagel, Sandeep Neema, Susmit Jha, Chase Shimmin, Ethan Lew, Chandra Sureshkumar, Hieu Nguyen, Harry Banyard, Chris Kafura, and several others.

  3. Where can I learn more?

  4. Are you hiring?

    So glad you asked--yes! We are looking for mission-motivated applied AI researchers to join us in our office in San Francisco’s Mission district and for cracked engineers and PMs for remote roles nationwide (in the US and Canada).

  5. What's P-1?

    It's an homage to the AI in the pioneering 1977 sci-fi novel The Adolescence of P-1.
